Create Standard forum displayed like a blog

How do I create a forum? How can I make my forum look like a blog?

A.

Standard forum displayed in a blog-like format. An open forum where anyone can start a new discussion at any time, and in which discussion topics are displayed on one page with Discuss the topic links. Read more to learn how to set this up.


1. Turn Editing mode ON.

2. Select a topic and click Add an activity or resource to open the Activity chooser. 







3. Select Forum and click the Add button.




















4. Give the forum a name.

5. Select the Standard forum displayed in a blog-like format as the Forum type.









6. Provide the introductory text for the discussion.











7. Configure the General settings.
Subscription mode - When a participant is subscribed to a forum it means they will receive email copies of forum posts.
Read tracking for this forum - If enabled, participants can track read and unread messages in the forum and in discussions.
Maximum attachment size - This setting specifies the largest size of file that can be attached to a forum post.
Maximum number of attachments - This setting specifies the maximum number of files that can be attached to a forum post.







8. Configure the Post threshold for blocking.
Time period for blocking - Students can be blocked from posting more than a given number of posts in a given time period.
Post threshold for blocking - This is the maximum number of posts allowed during the given period of time. Any number above this will be blocked.
Post threshold for warning - This is the number of posts during the given period of time that triggers a warning. Set the warning # of posts lower than the blocking # of posts.







9. Configure Grade and Rating settings.
Grade category - Select the gradebook category to place this Forum.

Aggregate type - The aggregate type defines how ratings are combined to form that final grade in the gradebook. If "No ratings" is selected, then the activity will not appear in teh gradebook.
Scale - Select a custom rating Scale, or how many points should be scored.
Restrict ratings to items with dates in this range - Restrict the dates for rating posts.











10. Define Common module and Restrict  access settings. (Optional)







11. Click Save and display.
