Q.
How do I bring over my files from the old Tlearn to the new Tlearn? I want to keep my files in the My Private Files repository, how?
A.
Because of the upgrade from Moodle 1.9 to Moodle 2.4 we are unable to backup and restore courses into the new Tlearn. Upon request we are manually transferring files from the old Tlearn to the new Tlearn. If you would like to copy your course files on your own follow these steps.
1. Login to the old Tlearn and enter your course.
2. In the Navigation block click Files
3. If you want to bring over all your files click Select All or select the individual files on the left. Then click the drop down With chosen files.. and select Create zip archive.
4. Enter a name for your (compressed) zipped folder and click Create zip archive.
5. In the list of course files click on your zipped folder. It will automatically download to your computer. Check your Downloads folder on your computers or locate it with your browser.
Where to locate the zipped file
Click Computer then Downloads
Or, If in the Firefox browser click the downward arrow to view latest downloads and click the small folder icon to reveal the location of the zipped folder.
Or, If in the Google Chrome browser click the horizontal three bar icon and click Downloads to reveal the location of the zipped folder.
* Internet Explorer is not recommended. There are know issues that affect some of the new Tlearn features.
6. After we have located the the zipped folder login to the new Tlearn.
7. In the Navigation block click My Profile and then click My Private Files.
8. In the My Private Files page click the Create folder link.
9. Enter a name for the folder and click Create folder button. Click Save changes.
10. Click on your folder to open it.
11. We are now going to add the zipped folder from the old Tlearn into our My Private Files folder we just created. We can do that two different ways.
A. Open your computers Downloads folder and locate the zipped folder. Place the window next to the new Tlearn webpage. Click and Drag the zipped folder into the My Private Files designated drop location. Save Changes.
*Draging and Dropping features doesn't provide a progress bar. If your zipped file is close to 500mb in size the process will be longer. For large files it's recommended to use an Ethernet connection to speed up the process.
B. Click the Add button to open the File picker.
On the left side click Upload a file. Then click Browse and locate the zipped folder from your downloads folder. Last click Upload this file.
* A progress bar is available for this approach.
12. Your zipped file should now be in your My Private Files. Click Save changes.
13. After you Save changes you will have to get back into your new folder. Click your zipped file and click the Unzip button.
* This window will also allow you to update the name, the location (path) of the file, and let you download the file.
14. Your files have now been unzipped. Click Save changes to complete the task.
