Backup a course

Q.

How do I backup my course? I want to archive my course for a later restore, how?

A

Courses or parts of courses can be backed up to restore into new courses, imported into existing courses, or kept as master copy for future use. Backup a course by following the steps below.

1. In the Settings block under Course administration select Backup.

2. Select what to include/exclude under Backup settings, then click Next. To backup a course without all of the posts and completed Activities remove the check mark under Included enrolled users.

3. Select your Schema settings (Topics, Weeks, Activities, and Resources), then scroll down and click Next. On the left side select the which Topics, Activities, and Resources to back up. (All items will be selected by default.) In the User data area on the right side, select if user data will be included in the Topics, Activities, and Resources to back up. (All items will be selected by default.)

4. Review Backup settings and confirm options, then scroll down and click Perform Backup.

5. Select Continue when The backup file was successfully created message appears. Depending on the size of the course it may take a few seconds.

6. Choose whether to Download or Restore the backed up course. Save the backup file on the local computer, by clicking on Download. To restore this course click on Restore. This can then be added to My Private Files so can also have a copy in TLEARN.
